Kalanchoe
grown by flower growers as an ornamental houseplant and medicinal. Its homeland is South America, Southeast Asia. The genus is succulents, the family is Crassulaceae. There are many varieties, one of the most popular is Degremon's Kalanchoe, it just has medicinal (antibacterial) properties, has gray-green fleshy leaves of an ovoid pointed shape. It reaches a height of about 20 cm and above.
At home, medium-sized forms of Kalanchoe are often grown, including Kalanchoe Mangina, with orange-red flowers and serrated leaves. It is distinguished by its special beauty during the flowering period, which falls in the spring.
The main problem of growing this plant is the lack of light. What affects the brightness of the color of the leaves - they turn yellow, or fly around. Also, avoid keeping Kalanchoe near radiators and heaters, as its leaves dry out from overheating. But from the other extreme - cool temperature and oversaturation with moisture - mold appears.
During the period of active growth from spring to autumn, the flower is actively watered, depending on the external temperature. When preparing the land for transplanting (which is done in the spring) or growing a young plant, you should take equal parts of sod and leafy land, as well as humus and sand, not forgetting about drainage. Cactus fertilizers are used for top dressing.
Reproduction of Kalanchoe
It is done by cuttings, seeds and babies, which are present in large numbers on the stems of certain types of Kalanchoe. When planting with seeds, they should be slightly pressed into the deciduous ground, covered with a jar and, if necessary, with a newspaper from the bright sun. It is necessary to monitor the timely moistening of the soil and ventilate a couple of times a day. As soon as the seedlings hatch, the shelter can be removed. After a month, they are planted in a box. Planting in pots is usually done when young plants have a few leaves.
