Asparagus is known not only as an ornamental plant, but also as a medicinal plant. It has more than two hundred species and all of them have one thing in common - leaves that resemble needles (similar to needles), or are very thin. If there are several asparagus, then all together they create a forest illusion. A big plus is that, thanks to their root system, asparagus survive in both cool and arid microclimates.
And yet, you need to be vigilant in the cultivation of asparagus, as at times there is yellowing and leaf fall due to a lack of moisture. Keep in mind that this indoor flower should not be placed near heating and electrical appliances, as they adversely affect it by drying out the air.
The special “character” of this houseplant should also be noted: it “accordingly” grows in a spacious shaded room, but “will not tolerate” neighbors that are side by side with its foliage. So try to give him more free space.
asparagus transplant
Due to the fact that under favorable conditions this plant grows quite quickly, it is transplanted not once a year, as is traditionally done with most indoor plants, but twice. When transplanting, remove all damaged and dried roots. Be careful with the soil. The fact is that the flower earth in a sealed package is oversaturated with one of the nitrogen compounds - ammonia due to the vital activity of microorganisms living in the soil. Therefore, in order to avoid causing burns to the rhizomes, let the earth breathe for a couple of days.
Reproduction of asparagus
It is carried out in late March - early April by seeds. For this, the soil is prepared with the addition of coarse sand, which acts as a drainage. Picking is done when the seedlings reach a height of seven cm. Around July, they can be planted in small pots. Top dressing is done in the summer with liquid mineral fertilizers added to the water. The frequency of watering is twice a week, while only once - with nutrients.
